Despre autor: David Hucaby

Despre carte: CCNP SWITCH 642-813 Official Certification Guide

Master Switching Technologies with the Guide from Expert David Hucaby!

Important Note: The book „CCNP SWITCH 642-813” is not a novel but a specialized technical study guide for a Cisco certification exam that is now long retired. The main „characters” of this book are switching technologies, Layer 2 protocols, and network architectures.

About the Author: David Hucaby

David Hucaby is a highly regarded network architect and author within the Cisco technical community. As a holder of the prestigious CCIE® (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) certification for over two decades, Hucaby is recognized for his deep expertise in designing and implementing complex enterprise networks. He has worked as a network architect for various large companies and for the University of Kentucky. He is one of the most prolific and respected authors for Cisco Press, having penned numerous official certification guides for the CCNA, CCNP, and CCDP exams. His books are praised for their technical accuracy, detailed explanations, and logical structure, making them essential resources for network engineers worldwide.

About the Book: CCNP SWITCH 642-813 Official Certification Guide

The „CCNP SWITCH 642-813 Official Certification Guide” was the fundamental manual for preparing for the SWITCH exam, a key component of the older CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification. It must be noted that this certification and the 642-813 exam were retired by Cisco in February 2020 and replaced by the new CCNP Enterprise curriculum. However, the book remains an exceptional resource for anyone wanting to learn switching technologies in modern enterprise campus networks in depth.

The work is a complete guide that explores the essential „characters” of the Layer 2 world. Readers will learn everything about planning and implementing VLANs and trunks (including VTP), and will gain a deep understanding of the workings of Spanning Tree Protocols (STP, RSTP, MSTP), which are critical for preventing network loops. The guide offers detailed explanations on configuring inter-VLAN routing on multilayer switches and covers high-availability technologies like EtherChannel and first-hop redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP). Switch security concepts are also presented. The principles and technologies described in this book are timeless and form the foundation of any modern enterprise network.

Build a solid foundation in switching technologies! Even though the exam has been retired, the knowledge in this guide is vital for any network engineer. Purchase David Hucaby’s book now to master the fundamental concepts of campus networks!
